Robling Re-Elected Assistant Leader in Senate Caucus
November 4, 2004
St. Paul – Sen. Claire Robling (R-Jordan) was re-elected last Thursday to the position of assistant leader in the Senate Republican Caucus.
The leadership team serves as an advisory committee to the caucus leader and overseas all aspects of caucus operations, from personnel management to political strategy. Robling will be one of six assistant leaders, four elected and two appointed by the caucus leader.
“I am gratified that my colleagues think I deserve another term on our leadership team, “said Robling. “We have a lot of hard work to do, including some unfinished business from last session, and I look forward to helping develop and steer our agenda to achieve some successes on behalf of my constituents and all Minnesotans.”
“Sen. Robling has earned the respect of our senators because of her thoughtful approach to the issues, her clear thinking and her good judgment,” said Senate Republican Leader Dick Day (R-Owatonna). “I am pleased that her colleagues voted to return her to this leadership position.”
Robling was first elected to the Minnesota Senate in 1996. She is the lead Republican senator on the State and Local Government Operations Committee and sits on the Transportation Policy and Budget Committee and the Higher Education Budget Division.
The other three elected assistant leaders are Sen. Tom Neuville, Northfield; Sen. Warren Limmer, Maple Grove; and Sen. Geoff Michel, Edina. Caucus Leader Day also appointed Sen. Michelle Bachmann, Stillwater; and Sen. Chris Gerlach, Apple Valley, to positions on the leadership team.
